Exchange Programs with the U.S.A.

Stael Ruffinelli de Ortiz - English has managed a Cultural Exchange Program with high schools in the state of Colorado, U.S.A., since 1991.

Every year, during the months of January and February, a group of Paraguayan students travels to Colorado, where they are received at host families and attend regular classes at either Highlands Ranch High School or Steam Boat Springs High School.

The students who enjoy this opportunity are selected under two principal criteria: to take the  Trinity College London International Exam, and a General Culture test. Upon selection, the student must register and apply to the Exchange Program, and deposit a registration fee. The airline tickets are paid for by the student, and must be purchased at the travel agency designated by the Institute under the program.

Every year, during the months of June and July, Stael Ruffinelli de Ortiz-English, receives a group of U.S. students who live with Paraguayan host families and attend high school. These visits constitute a very important and essential part of the Cultural Exchange Program with the U.S.

Students and Host Families

Both the U.S. and the Paraguayan host families are carefully selected. The exchange students receive orientation before the trip and are informed of the norms of conducts applied at the school that they will attend, as well as some important cultural differences. During pre-orientation, the students come in contact with other students who have already participated in the exchange program. The exchange program schedule includes visits to interesting places such as sporting matches and the mountains etc.
